Alvaro Morata in action as the striker made his debut with a 27-minute substitute appearance against Bayern Munich

The 24-year-old joined the Premier League champions for a reported initial fee of £58million and he was thrown in at the deep end in Singapore, off the back of only two days of training with his new side.

Morata can be forgiven for looking a little rusty but the early signs were positive as he replaced Jeremie Boga in the 63rd minute at the National Stadium.

The Spaniard came onto the field as Chelsea were chasing the game, with the scoreline at 3-1, and his boundless energy was clear to see as he won free-kicks, made lung-busting runs and contributed towards Michy Batshuayi’s goal at the death.
