Barcelona have reportedly launched a £72million bid to seal the transfer of Liverpool attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho amid rumours linking Neymar with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Catalan giants may be attempting to make a statement to the Brazilian forward, who is thought to be pushing for a £197m move to the French capital in a shock development this week.
Still, Liverpool are expected to reject the offer for their star player, whom they tied down to a new long-term contract last season after his continued fine form at Anfield.
Barca are long-time admirers of Coutinho, and are thought to be keen on bringing him in as a long-term replacement for 33-year-old playmaker Andres Iniesta, who is in the final year of his contract at the Nou Camp.
