Intense winds are fueling powerful wildfires in southern California, forcing nearly 30,000 people to evacuate from their homes and burning around 50,000 acres. California Gov. Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency in Ventura County. More than 1,000 firefighters and others are trying to contain the blaze there. “This fire is very dangerous and spreading rapidly, but we’ll continue to attack it with all we’ve got,” Brown said. According to the Los Angeles Times, at least 150 structures have been destroyed.
