Want to make your nails dry faster? When you’re finished painting, dip your nails in a bowl of ice water for about a minute. This helps solidify polish all the way through, not just on the top.
Before applying nail polish, use olive oil on your cuticles. This way you will be able to easily remove the excess polish from the skin surrounding your nails. It’s a bonus moisturizer.
If you need to freshen up your manicure but don’t have the time, make sure to have some glitter handy. Simply apply a layer of clear polish over your old manicure, then roll it in glitter before it’s dry — voilà, brand new sparkly nails.
If you use nail stickers like ones for French tips, always make sure that the edges of the stickers extend past the edges of your nails.
Removing fine glitter from your nails is very easy; pour nail polish remover on a cotton pad, apply it to the nails and wrap it in foil. A few minutes later, the glitter will be gone.
After shampooing, try applying the conditioner along the length of your hair and then allow it to air dry without combing. This way your hair won’t tangle.
When blow drying your hair, tilt your head forward and start from the roots to give it more volume.
When braiding your hair, use special mousse to give even the simplest hairstyle a neater, more textured look.
If your hair is prone to tangling, start combing from the tips, gradually making your way up to the roots. This will minimize damage.
When drying your hair with a towel, do not rub too hard. Don’t twist your hair either, as this can easily damage it. Use a soft towel or even an old t-shirt.
Dry shampoo or baby powder will save you from excess oils on your hair and scalp. Gently apply it to the roots and your hair will look clean and lush throughout the day.
Don’t despair if you can’t manage to get a perfect line applying eyeliner or eye pencil. Just make 3-4 small strokes along your eyelids and blend them together. Alternatively, try lining your eyes with little dots first, and then connect them.
Before sharpening soft eye pencils or lip pencils, stick them in the fridge for a few minutes — this will make them less «melty.»
Mix dark eyeshadows with lighter ones. For example, brown, dark green and dark blue colors with neutral, creamy shades. These combinations will work for both daytime and evening looks.
Apply blush to the apple of the cheeks and blend toward the hairline, then down to soften the edges.
Coconut oil is an excellent eye-makeup remover. Apply a little coconut oil on a cotton pad and gently wipe your eyelids with it. Remember: no rubbing at the delicate under-eye skin.
Lightly coat lips with translucent powder before applying your lipstick to keep it from slipping.
When applying mascara, use a business card, credit card or small piece of paper to hold over your eyelids or cheeks. Now you don’t have to worry about smudges.
Skin and Body Care
Always keep a thermal water spray or a moisturizing cream handy, especially during the summer heat.
Be sure to use a nourishing eye cream or eye gel. This will prevent early wrinkles from forming in the under-eye area.
In the morning, rinse your eyes with cold water and wipe the under-eye area with ice cubes. This will remove swelling and make your skin look fresh and bright.
Also use ice to help minimize swelling and inflammation. For an even greater effect, try applying some vasoconstrictor nasal spray — any pimple will become less noticeable.
Don’t throw away an old face cream — apply a thick layer of it to the heels of your feet overnight. Slip on a pair of thin cotton socks, and in the morning you’ll have the softest feet.
