It is often said that there is a thin light between ingenuity and fool hardiness…
Who said that? you ask
We are not quite sure. Might actually be something we came up with. But in her most recent controversial statement since realizing embracing controversy courts her attention. Stacey Dash recently posted an Opinion piece on her blog about the Actor who has been picked to potray Micheal Jackson.
The controversial star wrote
“BRAVO!” the controversial star wrote on her blog. “I’m sick and tired of being told ‘Sorry, Stacey, this is a Caucasian-only role.’ Counterintuitively, this decision by Hollywood—which looks like a diss to blacks—is actually what we’ve been saying all along: roles should NOT be based on color.”
While some can see her point. They did not fail to point out, “that when playing a REAL/RECENT human being there has to be a correct portrayal. ” It would be different were it not a real human being and was just a character” one person wrote.
We suspect she might have foreseen these arguments; in which light she defended it by citing the popular Broadway show Hamilton—which features many African American stars depicting Caucasian founding fathers—as prime proof to back her opinion. Dash wrote “This decision throws that white-only card out the window. They can’t look at black actors and say, ‘Sorry this role is Caucasian-only.’ Roles should not be dictated by race,” she continued. “I want to see more of this diversity and thinking outside of the box with the equality that this designation entails—this is the right track.”
Critics again insist that the representation of Minorities in Hollywood is so low, it is ridiculous to take the few roles meant for them by handing it over to the majority.” While another wrote that Dash seems to be stuck under a rock, if she thinks that would open doors to minorities. “It closes more doors of opportunities once it becomes okay for whites to have black characters as well.” Another clarified that Whites have been playing black characters for a far longer time, yet nothing has changed for the better representation of blacks, if not more loss of opportunities. there is no right track in this… they have been on the same track since playing black characters”
Dash however seem to love the spotlight that has been cast on her since embracing controversy. “Yes, I’m asking for a lot. Yes, I’m going against the flow of traffic. Yes, I will receive hate over this,” she wrote. “Guess what? I don’t care. I have wings.”
“Guess what? I don’t care. I have wings.” by which we assume, she already knows controversy brings attention to her, increases her visibility and her prospects to those who love to hear her speak…That is those whom she appears to be on their pay roll. ( Fox News we are looking at you)
